Opinion: These games should pique your interest from E3

A lot of anticipated games were shown at E3. And it’s expected for people to be excited about them. But, beyond the critically acclaimed franchises, there were some gems announced as well. I’ve listed a few games that have piqued my interest beyond the main titles that have been showcased.

Twelve Minutes:

Twelve Minutes was shown off at the Microsoft Xbox E3 conference. It has such an intriguing concept. You have 12 minutes to figure out how to not die while you’re stuck in a time loop. The trailer gives off this psycho-thriller vibe. While trying to figure out how to change the events predetermined in the game, I expect to have an intense experience filled with absolute concentration and frustration.

Another exciting thought about Twelve Minutes surrounds the distractions and roadblocks in the game. How will the game respond when the player almost figures out a way out of the loop?

Developer: Luis Antonio /Publisher: Annapurna Interactive / Platforms: Xbox One, PC

GhostWire: Tokyo

The GhostWire: Tokyo trailer debuted at the Bethesda E3 Conference. It was actually one of the most interesting upcoming games mentioned during the conference. It had a brand new feel without any preconceived hype. Planting its feet firmly in the horror genre, GhostWire: Tokyo looks like it will rival The Evil Within which was created by the same developer.

Players will roam a ghostly version of Tokyo after mysterious happenings force you to uncover the reason and purge the city of evil. This sounds like a great opportunity for those of us who faithful play Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and even Parasite Eve.

Developer: Tango Gameworks /Publisher: Bethesda

Wolfenstein: Youngblood

Wolfenstein: Youngblood has the potential to be the best Wolfenstein of the franchise. Why? Because you are able to play in online co-op with a partner. It’s the first Wolfenstein with co-op. If this set up works well, I can’t see co-op not being an option in future Wolfenstein titles.

Another reason why this game is on the list is due to the release date. It comes out on July 26, so it’s an option for some summertime entertainment.

Developer: Arkane Studios, MachineGames /Publisher: Bethesda / Platform: Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation

Death Loop

Death Loop seems cool. It’s two assassins going head to head to see who can get the kill first. The premise of the game is that you are at a constant loop to kill the other assassins while evading other enemies as well. I may have missed this in the presentation, but the trailer does not mention if this is a co-op experience. If it had a co-op mode, that would most likely be the highlight of the game.

My Friend Pedro

My Friend Pedro is the most unorthodox game that I’ve seen so far in E3. Not only did Devolver Digital have the most memorable showcase, but this game developed by DeadToast Entertainment also stood out among everything else. It reminded me of Super Hot. If you recall Super Hot, you’ll remember its a game where you can slow down time to shoot your enemies. Well, this game reminded me of that, but on a train with parkour.

Developer: DeadToast Entertainment / Publisher: Devolver Digital / Platforms: Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows

Halo Infinite announced as launch title with Project Scarlett at E3 2019 (trailer)

The developers at Microsoft spoke about the next generation in console at their E3 Conference. Some exciting points to take away includes shortened loading time, being able to play where you want regarding the cloud saving, and better frames per second.

They topped off the conference by announcing Halo Infinite as the launch title for the next generation console coming next year in holiday of 2020.

Destiny 2: Forsaken – Crown of Sorrow Raid Trailer reaction, Season of Opulence

I one hundred percent knew that the new Destiny 2: Forsaken raid Crown of Sorrow would end up being hive. Plus, I have this outrageous theory that somehow Savathun is involved in this. I mean she was in control of Riven in the Last Wish raid, so it wouldn’t be completely impossible.

Maybe Savathun is planning something to do with Calus.

Either way, I am excited for Season of Opulence to start tomorrow! I will be jumping in the raid too. As long as RNG is my friend. I’ll update you then.

Also, read my semi-preparation guide for Season of Opulence. It’s not to late to do some of the techniques I mentioned – Preparing for Season of Opulence (Destiny 2: Forsaken).

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (trailer review)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare releases October 25, 2019. It looks so good! The voice over of the solider talking about his duty is so compelling. My favorite line in the trailer has to be when the character says, “We get dirty, but the world stays clean. That’s the mission”. That was amazing.

I’m expecting story mode to make a come back in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare because that was very well put together. I wouldn’t expect so much emphasis on the solider if the player character wasn’t coming back.

Last week there was a little laughter after Activision revealed the title would simply be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare because we’ve had one of those. But, I’m looking forward to more current events and more of what makes Call of Duty special.

Update: Infinity Ward confirmed there is cross play for PC-console platforms! Plus no season pass.

Feels great man!

Terminator: Dark Fate (theory and trailer review)

With Terminator: Dark Fate coming out in November 2019, we get to retcon everything made after Judgement Day. This works because this is a series based on time travel and changing the past and future. Plus, Linda Hamilton is back as Sarah Connor!

It looks like Sarah Connor is going to be the guide for us this time around. We have two characters on the run. One is an augmented humanoid who can regenerate named Grace and the other is Dani Ramos (a damsel in distress or so it appears).

You can hear Grace ask Sarah Connor why she cares about Ramos and she responds, “Because I was her”. So maybe Ramos is pregnant or fated to affect the timeline in some way.

Here’s a question.

In Terminator Judgement Day, Sarah takes John Connor and the Terminator to see old friends who will help them flee to Mexico. Is Dani Ramos a relative of those friends? If she is, that could be another reason Sarah feels the need to save her.

Also, where is John?

I noticed Arnold Schwarzenegger (The Terminator) made a quick cameo in this teaser when Sarah’s group arrives at his cabin in the woods. Perhaps he is just a support character rather than the main Terminator this time around. He’s clearly not the same Terminator that saved John in Terminator 2: Judgment Day because we all remember the thumbs up scene. Please don’t make me cry.

Maybe Schwarzenegger is the Terminator that saved Sarah as a child. This was referenced in Terminator: Genisys.

Speaking of the Terminator, Gabriel Luna is playing the antagonist. His version of the terminator looks like it will allow him to clone himself in some way, as well as make knives and other sharp objects out of his body. That’s an interesting new take on the upgrades of a terminator this time around.

Take a look at the trailer below:

I’m always excited when a new Terminator movie is set for release. Yes, even the less stellar options in the franchise. I may not have been alive for the first Terminator release, and I’m certain I didn’t watch Terminator: Judgement Day until I was six. But, it is one of my favorite movies and the Terminator franchise is one of my favorites.

Toy Story 4 (trailer review)

For nostalgic purposes only I watched the new Toy Story 4 trailer and I was not disappointed. I’m kind of excited to see legendary characters from my childhood and meet some new ones.

Several moments stood out to me in this trailer. First, the energetic Duke Caboom! He is probably going to be the cheesiest character giving us Elvis, Johnny Bravo, and Evel Knievel all wrapped up in one. Plus, I am already on a Keanu Reeves high from John Wick Chapter 3 – Parabellum so that’s another reason.

Second, Woody is really standing out differently this time around. Instead of being a little jealous and considered Forky, he’s looking out for his new child and trying to get her favorite toy back, even if it is a spork with googly eyes and chenille stems on it.

Lastly, how hilarious are the plus dolls? The scene where they are brainstorming with Buzz Light Year is bound to be one of the best ones in the movie.

See for yourself.

Batman: Hush (trailer review)

IGN released an exclusive trailer for the upcoming animated film Batman: Hush a few hours ago. DC Comics tweeted that it is coming out this summer.

The trailer came off to me as explicit to me. The content definitely feels mature. We have sensual flirting between Batman and Cat Woman and Poison Ivy is controlling Superman. It’s absolutely sexy and I don’t recall any other animated film of Batman giving me those vibes.

Feel free to let me know if I’m wrong in the comment section.

We are introduced to Hush the main villain in the movie and it turns out he does not discriminate. He is kind of uncomfortably seductive the way he plays mind games. He will manipulate heroes, villains and vigilantes. For what? I guess we’ll find out this summer.

I’ve put the trailer below. Enjoy!

Batman: Hush releases August 13, 2019

Sonic (2019) trailer review

Jim Carrey should hold a special place in everyone’s heart! He single-handedly made me want to see the Sonic film and I was initially not interested.

When the first images of Sonic’s CGI were released I basically knew it was going to be all bad and I wrote a whole opinion piece based on this film not needing to be live action to thrive.
Opinion: Did Sonic the Hedgehog need a live action movie?

I think I under estimated Jim Carrey. But, I appreciate what he’s going to do with this film.

I will look past all of the terrible CGI and enjoy the cheeky acting because Carrey already stole the show.

By the way, can we talk about Coolio’s Gangsters Paradise playing over the trailer?

I liked it.

I honestly know it’s going to be cheeky, but I am ready for it.

Take a look at the trailer and tell me what you think.

Child’s Play 2019 (trailer review)

Just when I thought I was over my childhood terrors of Charles Lee Ray, here comes a Child’s Play remake.

I just watched the trailer and it is safe to say I will be sleeping with the light on and my hands and feet will be under the covers for the foreseeable future.

The worst part about watching the new trailer, is that the Chucky doll is now connected to all the technology. Why can  he connect to smart technology?

Why the heck would you buy a doll like that?

But the thing that really creeped me out was Mark Hamills’ voice as Chucky.

It’s so creepy!

I’m going to have to torture myself this summer and go watch it just because I’m curious at how far this will go.

I’ve linked the trailer below:

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order biggest reveal (trailer and update)

When EA and Respawn Entertainment released the teaser image for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. I wrote an opinion piece that said a lot of things that came from a wounded place.

Having played Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2, I was worried that pay walls would diffuse any fun from the game. On Saturday, more information was released regarding this game. The information dump seemingly answered all of my reservations.

Feel free to read all of my reservations by clicking here: Opinion: I can not get excited for Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order

In the recent information update, Respawn Entertainment revealed the most important thing … there will be no micro transactions.

Wow, I did not see that coming.

So that’s good news! Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be a single player experience will no multiplayer mode or pay walls. I’ve embedded the trailer below in case you haven’t seen it.

The Addams Family 2019 (trailer review)

I just watched the new trailer teaser for ‘The Addams Family’ (2019).

I have mixed feelings about this remake. The Addams Family has been around for a very long time. It started as an animated series in the 1960’s, became a live action television show in the 1970’s, went back to it’s cartoon roots in the 1990’s and had Fox Family did us all a favor when it release two new Addams Family moves in the late 90’s .

Those were great movies.

Now we have an animated movie being released in October of this year and I’m not sure I’m ready for another iteration of the Addams Family.

From the trailer, the characters seem true to themselves. No major differences for me to point out. For some reason I thought Gomez should be a bit more handsome. Morticia and Gomez Addams always have such a sensual relationship without it coming across as sexual. So, I do look forward to seeing Charlize Theron and Oscar Isaac’s chemistry in this film.

Also, there is a fun call back to IT in the trailer. I’ll let you see it for yourself.

A new generation is about to fall in love with the quirk of the Addams Family. So maybe we can just sit back and mindlessly enjoy this one.
