Dr. Stone: Clear World (S01, E11) – recap

We resume in the Kingdom of Science with Asagiri Gen back with Shishio keeping Senku’s existence a secret and Kohaku training Ginro and Kinro for the Grand Bout.

Clear World

Kohaku, Ginro, Shinro - Dr. Stone

Chrome and Senku plot to develop glass to make the antibiotic for Rori and then Senku ends up ripping off rips off Suika’s melon mask revealing an adorable face. That face quickly squinches up because shes near sited and the mask helps her see.

They start to gather materials to help them make glass. Senku ends up making glasses for Suika in the process.

Senku and Suika

Kohaku keeps training Kinro and Ginro. She calls out Kinro for having a bad depth of field. Ginro tells Kinro that his issue is because of his fuzzy sickness. Meaning he also needs glasses for astigmatism. However, he never asks for glasses.

Meanwhile, Senku, Chrome, and Suika formed glass and are struggling to make flasks with decent shape. They enlist the help of an old-timer name Kaseki who is a great craftsman in the village. When he refuses to help, Senku abducts him.

“I’m kind of a big deal” – Kaseki

Chrome and Senku attempt to create the vials and flasks in front of him. This makes Kaseki cringe and eventually can no longer resist helping after seeing how bad their craftsmanship was.

Kaseki crafts the needs flasks with precision and perfection. The Kingdom of Science is getting closer and closer to being able to create the antibiotic.

Ginro tells Kinro that putting gold and silver coatings on their spears may help him with his depth of field and allow an advantage in the Grand Bout. They go to Kohaku and Senku and ask him to create spears like the one he for them when they met. Senku agrees but sets them up for a mission to scavenge the materials to create a silver tip.

Dr. Stone S01 E09 | Let There Be the Light of Science (recap)

Senku and friends begin handing out ramen in the hopes that the villagers will join the Kingdom of Science and help them create the antibiotic and make other advances in society using science. They need manpower to do this per the last episode, Stone Road.

An outsider with a cool haircut that rivals Senku’s (I haven’t decided who’s hair is better) arrives and starts eating a bowl of ramen. Kohaku calls him an enemy holds him at knifepoint along with Ginro and Kinro.

Turns out this man was a famous magician pre-petrification and considers himself a mentalist. Kohaku thinks he’s full of crap and he seems shifty. However, Senku opts not to debate whether he is good or bad but makes him work for his meal.

Let There Be the Light of Science

This new character is named Asagiri Gen. He and others from the village join the group for manual labor. Doing so allows the group to acquire iron. Senku asks Asagiri how Taiju and Yuzuriha are doing. Asagiri admits that he is a spy for Shishio and that his job is to confirm Senku’s death.

Asagiri says that regardless of which side wins (Science or Shishio) he’s going to go with what makes him the happiest. That turns out to be girls and food, but mostly girls. Kohaku is disgusted and threatens to kill him or imprison him.

Senku holds her off by telling her that Asagiri needs to report back to Shishio to avoid him coming to investigate for himself. He then promises that once Asagiri sees the advances they make he’ll want to join the Kingdom of Science.

The Kingdom of Science is working on creating a generator. Senku states that they’ll need lightening and as luck would have it a thunderstorm lights up the sky. Senku looks shaken to the core because he was ill-prepared for the storm.

The team springs into action to create lightning rods to harness the energy of the lightning and create a magnet. Some of the primitive villagers mistake this frantic preparation for the destruction of the bridge and anger of the heavens due to their sorcery. Asagiri uses a flower trick to confuse the primitive group so that the Kingdom of Science can continue with its mission to harness the lightning.

Chrome, Senku, Kohoku, Ginro, Kinro, and Asagiri all stand on a hill with iron rods waiting to get struck by lightning. Kohaku uses Kinro’s spear with the golden tip to mount the iron rod in the air. As a result, a magnet is created to aide the group in the creation of the generator.

They create the generator and with some Asagiri’s magical persuasion, Kinro and Ginro finally join the Kingdom of Science as the two operators of the generator with promises of getting new golden spears.

Senku also created a light bulb that illuminates the night, showed the group the result of their hard work, won over Asagiri, and took Senku one step closer to realizing his dream of bringing the world back to its former glory.

Dr. Stone S1, E7 | Where Two Million Years Have Gone (recap)

In this episode, Senku and Kohaku find a hot spring so that Kohaku can take the water to her sick sister, Ruri. Senku is thrown off at first because he believes that she confessed her undying love for him. She denies that she loves him, but confirms she likes his way of life. However, I do think she will fall for him eventually, but she is more concerned about her sister’s health right now.

The jug with the hot spring water in it is too heavy and Senku offers to carry it. He eventually falls over and decides to create a vehicle to help them transport the supplies. Kohaku believes the hot spring has healing properties. Senku knows it will not heal her sister, adding to the primitive origin. They arrive at Kohaku’s village where two guards will not let Senku in because he is an outsider.

Where Two Million Years Have Gone

Petrification, Dr. Stone

Senku is excited about finding the village and wonders where all of these people came from. He deduces that they were born post petrification due to their primitive nature and assumes he will be able to take over the village.

He encounters two guards that will not let him pass. So he tests their intelligence by creating bubbles. They don’t know what the bubbles are an immediately take a defensive stance and scream for Chrome, their village sorcerer.

Science vs. Sorcery

Chrome arrives on the scene and explains away the bubbles while popping them. This surprises Senku and he is excited that another person interested in how the world works is alive.

Chrome tries to amaze Senku by using crystals to create various colors of fire, but Senku can deduce how he achieved the fire. Seeing Chrome’s passion for sorcery makes Senku think of Shishio.

He tells Chrome that Shishio would eventually try to kill him because he too is interested in how the world works and even though he doesn’t understand everything, his existence and abilities would challenge Shishio’s purified world.

Arithmetic

Senku, Chrome, Kohaku, Dr. Stone

Chrome challenges Senku to a battle of numbers and puts up his entire lab as collateral. Whoever wins takes it all. Senku crushes Chrome easily and takes his lab for his own, but invites Chrome and the two guards to join him and Kohaku in the Kingdom of Science.

Kinro, one of the guards is settled in his ways and tells Senku that he can not come into the villages because “rules are rules”. Kinro does ease up after Senku puts a gold coating over his spear.

Kinro, Senku, Dr. Stone

While looking through the resources he gained from Chromes inventory, Senku gives shouts out to Dragon Quest and Monster Hunter.

Kohaku heads into town to see her sister, Ruri. Ruri turns out to be the priestess of the town and she is sick. Kohaku and Chrome are trying hard to figure out what can save her.

Chrome

Senku decides to tell Chrome what happened to the world with petrification over 3700 years. Chrome is overcome with grief and hope and vows to help Senku rebuild.

Senku Antibotic, Dr. Stone

Senku says he can save Ruri with an antibiotic.
