Asagiri Gen betrayed Hyoga by sabotaging his spear and siding with Senku and the rest of the group on the village entry bridge. However, the group didn’t realize that Hyoga was a distraction.
Continue reading “Dr. Stone: The Modernity | 1 x19 – recap”In episode 17, Asagiri Gen told Senku that the Kingdom of Might was on their way. They didn’t waste any time, because moments after Senku received the news, Ginro and Kinro were attacked at the bridge. Kinro attempted to hold the Kingdom of Might soldiers off but due to his fuzzy sickness, he was unsuccessful. He gave Ginro instructions to alert the rest of the village and cut the bridge if things got bad.
Continue reading “Dr. Stone: Stone Wars | 1 x 18 – recap”In the previous episode, Benimaru and Obi got into a fight because imposters impersonated Obi and Hinawa and framed them for turning villages in Asakusa into infernals. Konro, the captain of the 7th, convinced Benimaru to allow Obi and the rest of the 8th to explain.
Continue reading “Fire Force: The Trap Is Set | (1 x 13) – recap”We continue with the Grand Bout. Gifted with clear sight from Suika, Kinro beats down Magma and leaves him barely able to move. The Kingdom of Science begins to celebrate, but Magma convinces Kinro to ask the referee if the watermelon helmet is legal for the fight. Ps. We have a new opening theme.
Continue reading “Dr. Stone: Master of Flame (s01, e14) – recap”In this episode of Dr. Stone, Chrome, Ginro, and Senku return to camp with the Sulfuric Acid. Kohaku gets excited because the assumes the antibiotic will be created instantly. However, Chrome quickly deflates her by telling her that there are still steps to take before the medicine is complete.
Continue reading “Dr. Stone: Masked Warrior (s01, e13) – Recap”Ginro teases Kinro for not having a gold spear while rejoicing over his new silver spear. Senku appoints Ginro the group’s bodyguard while they go out to search for sulfur ingredients for the antibiotic.
“Buddies Back to Back”
The spear is also used for a sensor and turns black when the group needs to run away or they will die. Sulfer ingredients are dangerous.
Chrome, Kohaku, Senku, and Ginro make it to an area where they can gather materials for Rori’s medicine. They want to collect green water. But the hydrogen sulfide will kill them is Ginro doesn’t pay attention.
Ginro sees a mirage of a beautiful girl in the water and almost gets killed because he doesn’t notice the sulfuric acid turning the spear black. Kohaku thinks she can outrun the acid, but Senku assures her that her speed won’t be enough to outrun the poison.
The decide to great gas masks, but Senku makes Chrome stay behind in case the masks don’t work. Chrome is the only other person in the Kingdom of Science that knows how to create Rori’s cure and will pass down the knowledge. Chrome refuses because Senku is his friend. After some back and forth, Chrome and Senku agree to have each other back while gathering the materials.
Meanwhile, Kohaku is approached by her father to take the place of her sister as the town priestess. She refuses and vows to save Rori using the medicine Senku and Chrome are planning to create. She is assured that Chrome loves her sister and thus will save her life.
Senku and Chrome prepare to go back to the green lack again. Ginro is afraid so Senku takes his spear and they leave.
Kaseki, our resident craftsman, is still around. He gives some knowledge to Ginro about being able to work through his fear versus giving up and letting his fear consume him using willpower. Kaseki made another mask to give Ginro a change to help Chrome and Senku.
Back with Chrome and Senku, Chrome slips and falls off the cliff headed straight into the green lake of sulfuric acid. Ginro arrives just in time to save his life.
After a moment of heroism, Ginro freezes with fear after seeing his spear turn black. But Senku and Chrome help him calm down and gain control over his fear. And they obtain Sulfuric acid!
We have a flashback about Hinawa, Obi, and Maki before they were in the Fire Force. Hinawa’s flashback shows him freezing up when his roommate transformed into an inferno in the Armed Forces. Obi was a regular Fire Fighter, they weren’t taken seriously by members of the Fire Force.
“I refuse to sit back and do nothing while the world burns down around me.’ – Obi
After finding out that the Fire Force members had a point system to have fun while putting infernos to rest. One inferno waited patiently for the fire force to put in to rest. This is the first time Obi and Hinawa worked together. Obi vows after that moment to create his own sector of the Fire Force.
The Mightiest Hikeshi
Back in the present, the 8th want to investigate the Evangelist in the 7th. They do not want to cooperate, but Obi barges in and makes their presence known. The captain, Benimaru and Shinra have a battle of words because Benimaru isn’t interested in tracking down the Evangelist.
Shinra challenges him to a duel, but one of the townspeople turns into an inferno. While putting him to rest, Benimaru tears his village apart. An old lady explains to Shinra that the townspeople only want to be put to rest by Benimaru’s hands if they combust.
I think Benimaru will become a trustworthy ally once Shinra breaks his shell.
Hibana has been spending a lot of time with Special Force 8 due to her infatuation with Shinra. Hinawa and Obi notice that the station has become a lot more lively and it is a welcomed change.
The captains of all of the Special Forces have been summoned to the Tokyo Emperor as a result of the Rekka incident in the last episode to discuss what is happening and how the government will resolve the secret organization lead by the Evangelist.
The Promise
During the meeting, the 7th captain says that they will carry on with business as usual. The Emperor says that he wants the groups to all work together to take down the Evangelist.
Hibana is approached by Dr. Giovanni, the captain of the 3rd, regarding her alliances. She brushes him off and continues into the meeting beside Obi.
The Emperor tells Shinra that his Adola Burst is similar to the power plant that dwells in Tokyo to power the city. Some of the captains from other companies, including the 3rd, want to lock Shinra up so he won’t be captured. Hibana tips Obi off about this. Obi vows to keep Shrina safe from attacks.
Arthur is back at the 8th headquarters. We didn’t receive a reason why he went missing. Perhaps he is undercover for the Evangelist.
Shinra takes a breather after the meeting. He is approached by the stranger, Joker, from the Fire Force Festival earlier in the season. Joker tells him that he needs to pursue the Evangelist to find his brother. His brother is a knight for the Evangelist.
Shinra vows to save his brother from the Evangelist. Fire Force 8 embarks on a mission to review paperwork for leads about the Evangelist in hopes to figure out where and who they are.
Hinawa tells Shinra that whatever is on his mind he should tell Obi if he can’t tell him. Shinra assures Hinawa that he trusts him and has enjoyed his time with Special Force 8. Obi and Hinawa determine that Shinra will do well.
Shinra tells everyone in company 8 about Joker and his brother. He states the company feels like a family. Because of this realization, Hinawa determines that the plan to take down the Evangelist will be centered around saving Shinra’s brother.
We get a glimpse of Shinra’s brother, Sho, in the Evangelists’ shrine room during a ritual before the episode ends.
Senku and the rest of the Kingdom of Science sit in their hut discussing whether or not they can trust Asagiri Gen because of his affiliation with Shishio (firmly referred to as Tsukasai at this point). We see a flashback from Asagiri’s perspective of how Shishio woke him up with an army of statues behind him. He revealed his plan to have a world without the original powers (meaning older people that dictated society before the petrification).
A Flimsy Alliance
Senku convinces his friends that Asagiri is the key to winning the war, all he has to do is tell Shishio that Senku is definitely dead. Asagiri quietly contemplates to himself about his decision when he is attacked by two brutes.
He doesn’t seem to know who they are, but their objective is clear. They aim to kill him. One of the men stabbed a spear into his chest and fleed the scene before Senku and the rest of the team can come to his aide.
Luckily, Asagiri is smart. He blocked the spear penetration. He was not dead, but he was critically injured. Senku, Chrome, and Kohaku began to tend to his wounds while Suika went to investigate.
Suika found out that Magma is the one who tried to kill Asagiri because he wanted to get rid of the sorcery. During this flashback, we find out that Kohaku beat Magma in a tournament called the Grand Bout to be the next to ruler the village and fiance to her sister. She only attacked him after she overheard him say he would drown her sister after they got married.
This action pissed her dad off and due to her history of shenanigans, he disowned her. The Grand Bout was rescheduled to decide a new winner for the next month.
The plan is to make a member of the Kingdom of Science join the bout and win. As a result, they would take Rori’s hand in marriage and allow her the medicine to take the medicine.
Kohaku approaches Kinro and Ginro to train them. She tells Chrome that she knows he wants the opportunity, but she thinks Kinro and Ginro have the best chance to physically defeat Magma. Chrome understands and is still determined to create a cure for her.
Asagiri wakes up and makes a flees the village to run back to Shishio. Chrome and the rest of the group are worried that he will tell Shishio that Senku is alive. However, Senku isn’t worried because they made a deal.
Bottle of Cola
Senku will make Asagiri a refreshing bottle of Cola in exchange for his allegiance.
Asagiri arrives at Shishio’s lair surrounded by goons. Shishio is sitting on a stone throne looking on. Asagiri tells him about the primitive village that attacked him and says that Senku was gone without a trace. Asagiri holds up his promise to tell Shishio that Senku is dead in exchange for Cola.
We pick back up from the previous episode of Fire Force, with Shinra jumping down from the rough on to Rekka’s face effectively stopping him from beating up Tamaki.
During their fight, Rekka’s inferno creating bug starts to try and jolt toward Shinra from inside its container. Rekka believes this is because the bug is compatible with Shinra and plans to capture him to use him for whatever the Evangelists’ grand plan is.
They engage in a fight and Shinra holds his own, but it quickly becomes apparent that Rekka is more experienced and therefore able to use his flames more effectively.
The Spreading Malice
Tamaki is caught up in the crossfire and pleads for Shinra to defeat Rekka. Rekka feels that he can beat Rekka in terms of mobility and takes to the air to fight. Rekka decides to use his arms. Shinra defeats Rekka with a huge burst fire kick from the ceiling, leaving him laying on the ground.
His goal is to create strong pyrokinetic from the children he takes and produce countless infernos to return the world to flames because its the will of the Evangelist. The main objective of his group is to turn the world into a second sun, a star.
During Rekka’s crazy rant, he says that he planned to kidnap the children so they can receive the Evangelists’ teachings. Shinra realizes his brother could have been taken from the scene of his house fire when they were young.
Karim and Foein show up and Karim freezes Rekka mid-attack. They are trying to figure out their next steps when someone shoots Rekka from afar and reports that he has been eliminated. The sniper begins to fire again and ends up shooting off Foein’s arm.
The group goes on defense and the sniper’s retreat.
Who is the Evangelist?
Shinra deduces that there is a group that’s turning civilians into infernos and setting fires to hide their crimes. Among them are kidnapped children and one of those children could be his brother. Now, Shinra plans to go after the Evangelist.
Tamaki is prepared to accept her punishment for her role in Rekka’s plot. Special Unit 1 joins Special Unit 8’s investigation to find the Evangelist.
As a result of Tamaki’s role, she was suspended and Obi accepted her into the 8th for the time being. Arthur went missing during the apprehension of Rekka and hasn’t returned to the 8th’s base. He is shown walking in a windy desert at the end of the episode.
Is he going off on his own or could he be working for the Evangelist?
Senku and friends begin handing out ramen in the hopes that the villagers will join the Kingdom of Science and help them create the antibiotic and make other advances in society using science. They need manpower to do this per the last episode, Stone Road.
An outsider with a cool haircut that rivals Senku’s (I haven’t decided who’s hair is better) arrives and starts eating a bowl of ramen. Kohaku calls him an enemy holds him at knifepoint along with Ginro and Kinro.
Turns out this man was a famous magician pre-petrification and considers himself a mentalist. Kohaku thinks he’s full of crap and he seems shifty. However, Senku opts not to debate whether he is good or bad but makes him work for his meal.
Let There Be the Light of Science
This new character is named Asagiri Gen. He and others from the village join the group for manual labor. Doing so allows the group to acquire iron. Senku asks Asagiri how Taiju and Yuzuriha are doing. Asagiri admits that he is a spy for Shishio and that his job is to confirm Senku’s death.
Asagiri says that regardless of which side wins (Science or Shishio) he’s going to go with what makes him the happiest. That turns out to be girls and food, but mostly girls. Kohaku is disgusted and threatens to kill him or imprison him.
Senku holds her off by telling her that Asagiri needs to report back to Shishio to avoid him coming to investigate for himself. He then promises that once Asagiri sees the advances they make he’ll want to join the Kingdom of Science.
The Kingdom of Science is working on creating a generator. Senku states that they’ll need lightening and as luck would have it a thunderstorm lights up the sky. Senku looks shaken to the core because he was ill-prepared for the storm.
The team springs into action to create lightning rods to harness the energy of the lightning and create a magnet. Some of the primitive villagers mistake this frantic preparation for the destruction of the bridge and anger of the heavens due to their sorcery. Asagiri uses a flower trick to confuse the primitive group so that the Kingdom of Science can continue with its mission to harness the lightning.
Chrome, Senku, Kohoku, Ginro, Kinro, and Asagiri all stand on a hill with iron rods waiting to get struck by lightning. Kohaku uses Kinro’s spear with the golden tip to mount the iron rod in the air. As a result, a magnet is created to aide the group in the creation of the generator.
They create the generator and with some Asagiri’s magical persuasion, Kinro and Ginro finally join the Kingdom of Science as the two operators of the generator with promises of getting new golden spears.
Senku also created a light bulb that illuminates the night, showed the group the result of their hard work, won over Asagiri, and took Senku one step closer to realizing his dream of bringing the world back to its former glory.
In this episode, we pick up with Senku still in a flashback. After waking up from his petrification, Senku solidifies his goal to rebuild civilization. He discovers that something in the soil aided his awakening and follows the source back to the bat cave we saw earlier in the season.
The bat cave has a liquid dripping from its ceiling. Senku believes that it had a significant part in his awakening so he gathers an amount and pours it on a nearby body that happens to be Taiju.
When the petrification does not immediately wake Taiju up, Senku revisits his theory to figure out what other components could be involved in the awakening. This leads him to use Albert Einstein’s special-relativity equation, E = mc2. Senku uses the bat juice along with igniting the consciousness of Taiju and he wakes up.
Senku wakes up in real-time.
Two Nations of the Stone World
After Senku wakes up, Yuzuriha put a wood plank to his back to protect his spine and neck. Senku is unbothered by almost dying and decides to use his presumed death to get the upper hand on Shishio.
Shishio thinks Senku is dead, so Senku proposes Taiju and Yuzuriha go and join his ranks to act as double agents and thwart his plans to create his perfect youthful world.
At the same time, Senku will go to find the people who sent up smoke signals to begin his community of science.
When we next see Shishio he is approaching the bat cave when he is attacked by a girl. He identifies her as a 2nd generation human born after the petrification. He categorized her as primitive and planned to take over her clan at a later time. He traps her under a tree and proceeds to his destination.
Senku comes to rescue her. She is enamored by Senku’s ability to get her from under the tree using science. He used a pulley system. We find out her name is Kohaku and she vows to be with Senku.
In this episode, Shinra comes across finds out that the man he fought at the rookie tournament is named Joker. The ashes that caused the explosions in the air are the ashes of dead infernos.
The Hero and the Princess
After finding out this news, Maki sends Arthur and Shinra on a mission to rescue a dog. They end up running into the Fire Force mascots that we met at the rookie tournament. The man mascot named Mamoru was recently surrounded by citizens shouting “hip hip hooray” for some reason. He didn’t like it.
While Shinra and Arthur are still around, he tells them about Miyamoto. Miyamoto is a former fight fighter that killed four people for fun. Today is the day his verdict is decided by a judge.
While in court, the verdict is announced as not guilty due to psychological reasons. Miyamoto stood in the center of the courtroom with a smile on his face because he knew he would get off.
Moments after the verdict was announced, Miyamoto sparked and transformed into an inferno. However, he is still self-aware. During his transformation, he lit everyone in the room except his lawyer and the judge on fire.
He later killed the judge for passing judgment, but during his preparation to kill his lawyer he was thwarted by Shinra and Arthur her flew over to the scene as soon as they got word from their chief. The rest of Company 8 arrived, but Miyamoto managed to escape causing Shinra to chase him.
Shinra catches up to him and almost lays him to rest, but he ends up being distracted by Miyamoto’s tactics. This left enough time for the captain of Special Fire Force 5 to arrive at the scene with her troops and detain the inferno.
Shinra attempted to fight the entire company 5 but the numbers overwhelmed him. Fortunately, Obi and the rest of company 8 arrive. Obi and the captain of company 5, Princess Hibana agree that company 5 will take the subject and study him FOR SCIENCE and share the information they acquire.
Self-aware infernos are not common and they have the resources to study the subject. Obi is still weary but goes along with these terms.
