The Mandalorian season 2 | better than the season 1? (review)

I finally finished watching season two of The Mandalorian. I enjoyed it, and I feel like this season was possibly better than the first one.

Season Two Review

In my opinion, Mando’s character opened up a lot more than in the first season. When we first met Mando, he was shut off and didn’t play nicely with others. He was always in a solo fight versus a hoard of enemies. In this season, Mando gets along well with others, has allies, and even compromises when he meets other Mandalorians with different beliefs. 

“Mandalorians are stronger together.”

Though the initial interaction between Mando and the Mandalorian trio he met was strained due to their different beliefs, his alliance with them honestly made me more excited for season three. I’m interested in the possibility of a team-up with their group because that means that he’s going to have more ventures, get even closer to finding more of his kind, and perhaps become the leader of the pack.

I did not expect to see Boba Fett in such a standout way this season. Boba Fett was a bounty hunter, in case you don’t know, and a popular character from the movies that didn’t last long (no spoilers here). However, his character spawned the clones we know about from the Clone Wars (sorry for the spoiler). 

Jon Favreau and the Mandalorian creators inserted him into the Mandalorian universe, and it was a welcomed addition. Boba Fett will have his spinoff series on Disney+, The Book of Boba Fett, in 2021. His story looks to be an entertaining one. Hopefully, we get more information about the other Mandalorians. Plus, I’d like a crossover episode because, honestly, Mando started it all (at least on Disney+), so it would suck not to have Mando involved at all. 

Please give me one or two crossover episodes.

Lastly, if you haven’t watched the series and haven’t gotten to the last episode, don’t read any further. Please watch the entire series and then come back here. I’m assuming if you are reading beyond this point, you understand that there’s going to be a spoiler. 

In the last episode, Luke Skywalker shows up and takes Baby Yoda (Grogu) off to train because the force is strong within him. Not old Force Awakens, Luke Skywalker. I’m referring to shortly after the original trilogy Luke Skywalker. He wrecked ship, took Grogu, and left Mando, and the rest of the gang shook. R2-D2 appears as well.

I have nothing to complain about other than the (could have been much better) CGI of Luke Skywalker’s face. I’ve seen facetune apps do a bit better. 

Season Three

My overall feeling after watching season two of The Mandalorian is please, please, please do not stop making the Mandalorian. I understand that we’re going to get a few spinoff shows (The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka Tano). However, I don’t want this to be the end of Mando’s story because he had one goal: to get Baby Yoda to a Jedi. 

At the end of season two, he completed that goal. But please don’t let this be the beginning of the end for the Mandalorian as a series. My main reason for saying so is because Mando is dope. Season three is scheduled to premiere in December of 2021.
